I've wanted a betta for a while now so I went to petco today and found the most pitiful looking one they had (they were all pretty pitiful, poor things) and brought him home. I put him in the tank (already set up for him) and he swam around like crrraaaaazzyyy for a few hours. I also fed him bloodworms, which he ate. I came back in a little while ago to check on him and he was floating in his plant, looking very dead. I touched one of his fins and he swam around a little then went by the filter and laid there and now he's nestled at the bottom of the tank by the plant's roots. His gills move rapidly for a few minutes and then start to slow down and then they stop and start again in a couple minutes. Is this normal?? He has a heater that is keeping the water at 78 degrees so I don't think he's cold or anything. And occasionaly he opens his mouth and then closes it right away. I think he was happy because he was making bubbles but now he looks pretty sad. What should I do?!??
