My dog (a 30lb beagle) ate a small piece of a plastic grocery bag while we were on a walk last night. I yanked most of it out of his mouth, but I think there was something still in there that he scarfed down before I could get to it. He threw up on our walk this morning and again a few hours after I fed him breakfast. His poop turned light yellow on our morning walk, and on the walk we took just now, it was also crumbly and he was straining to pass it. Other than that, he has been happy, playful, and energetic all day. I already had a vet appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon for some back pain that he has been experiencing, which he is on pain meds for. My questions are: can he wait until tomorrow afternoon to see his normal vet, or should I find an emergency department that can see him right now? Should I feed him dinner tonight and breakfast tomorrow, or should I withhold food until he sees the vet? Should I give him his meds for his back pain? (He is on an anti-inflammatory and something for nerve pain.) Thanks for your advice!
