Question: My hamster won't eat and makes a clicking noise?

My dwarf hamster hasn't been eating. He is a little over a year old (Christmas). A few days ago, he looked very sick as if he was going to die, he would not move or anything. The next day he was walking around and didn't seem in pain at all although he would sometimes walk slanted. My mom thinks he may have had a stoke. He now always makes this fast clicking noise. Everybody says it's because he is happy but he has never done that before. My mom also said she gave him a piece of egg once (which we regularily used to give him) and he looked as if he was choking on it or stuggling to get it down. My mother looked up a lot of information but we cannot find anything very useful. We have been putting pelletes of food in drops of water and mashing them for him to eat. At first he would nibble a little but now he won't eat anything as if he knows he cannot eat because he will choke. It is very hard to watch. I cannot help but think he is starving to death. I would like to put him to sleep as soon as possible unless there is a way to fix this. He also looks like he has full pouches sometimes but he is obviously not eating. My mother said it may be because he is loosing so much wieght it just looks like that. We are doing everything we can to keep him from suffering. Please help!
