My 14 year-old buddy Snoopie died in a sudden and strange way, and I was wondering if someone might have an idea as to what killed him. A year ago he had appeared to have several seizure episodes. At that time, i switched his diet from bird seed to strictly zoopream pellet food and fresh veggies. There were no more problems after this. Last night I took him from his cage to give him a bath, and he flew to the top of my bookshelf. Usually he waits for me there until I get the other bird out of the cage. This time, he called me in a more desperate tone, so I went to him immediately. I picked him off the shelf and he seemed to be having a fit. He chirped like a chick, leaned into my hand, and closed his eyes. I don't think he was in much pain because it happened so fast. It took about 5 seconds to go from appearing healthy, to dead. I think he over exerted himself flying around the room. I don't have expirience with this kind of sudden death so i thought i'd ask if anyone might know if this was a heart attack or a stroke. As sad as this loss was, I already feel better knowing he had a good life, a really fun last day, and I got to say goodbye.
