My dog had surgery and his inflatable collar is not doing the full job to prevent him from licking the area. I have ordered some bitter apple type stuff to prevent this, but it won't be here until tomorrow. I need a solution to make it through the night. The surgery was on his paw, does anyone have any suggestions? I'd rather not buy the plastic collar for one night's use .. Thanks everyone - this is for a Labrador pup - 6 months old. I've thought about the sock thing, but if he licks it it will likely still get wet, and that's the thing we have to avoid the most. I might try putting a loose bandage on it and then covering with the sock to keep it dry. He had bandages on them (both paws) - but he was messing with them and they moved, and the vet said to just take them off because if they move out of position they might restrict blood flow to his toes.
