This is long, bear with me please So i just rescued a puppy which is 6 weeks old. Im new at owning a puppy, so i have a few questions and issues about how to take care of a new puppy. To start off, my puppy hates the crate. Everytime i put him in there and close the gate, he would whine, cry, and bite the crate as if he is trying to escape. He also had a few accidents in there. What are some proper ways to crate training? He keeps trying to jump up on couches and beds to cuddle up in a corner or a person. He also does this when im sitting on the ground. I know hes still young and keen for the warmth of another person, but there are times he would try to jump up to the couch when no one is there. He would keep doing it until either i get tired of trying to get him down, or he would get tired. Is it a dominance behavior, and how do i stop it? He also tried to jump on chairs where people have seated, so im assuming he only jumps on where it is occupied. He has been sleeping in his tiny bed, but everytime he wakes up, he would try to jump on my bed. In addition, he has been sleeping in my room at night thus far, and i tried to get him to sleep in the crate during the day. I would trick him by letting him lay next to me, and when he passes out, i would gently pick him up and put him in the crate. Good idea or no? Lastly, hes been scratching a lot. He has his shots and dewormed, but he is constantly biting his feet and scratches himself. What are the solutions?
