Question: Why did my dog attack me?

I have a normally loyal, friendly black Labrador Retriever. Today, I came home and as usual was greeted by him in a nice way i petted him and then out of no where he growled and jumped at me and tried to rip my head off. Usually he gets aggressive if i feed him ham or bones or anything like that, but I haven't given him any of that lately
