I 'm trying to look for the cheapest high-quality foods. I've been told to feed my rats Native Earth, as well as Oxbow Essentials. The Native Earth is 18% Protein from plant sources (reads the Native Earth analysis). Supposedly the protein should only be about 16% for adults? Should I feed this just to babies? Some have told me that given the amount of protein, I should NOT feed Native Earth. It is a bit cheaper than Oxbow, but if it isn't good for adult rats, I will go with Oxbow. I don't know if the sex of the animals effects how much protein they need, but I'm speaking of feeding male rats. I'm hoping to purchase two male rats sometime within the next (2014) year, and would like to give them a long, happy, and healthy life. They will be living in a double-unit critter nation cage. Thanks!
