Question: We have a very old dog who is sick and weak. My husband does not agree that it is time to put her to sleep, but I think it is. Can we agree?

She has become weak and arthritic and is on several pain medicines. I am the primary caregiver and see more of the pain than he does, because he works all day. I have tried to explain gently that I see the bigger picture and I think it s time. He says until she can no longer get up and move around, he will not think it s time. I don t think it s fair to her to wait that long. I don t want to force the situation on him (He got her when she was a puppy, before I was in the picture...) but I want him to see what I think is the truth without resenting me for killing his baby. I know it s an extremely difficult situation emotionally. We have been through this before with other pets, but that was sudden. This is a slow suffering. I can t figure out how to get him to agree without forcing this on him, and he has the same problem vice-versa. I m not sure if it is possible to agree and I will have to just bite the bullet and be the bad guy.
