Question: How to clean cat pee out of hardwood flooring?

I moved back home with my parents for a while with my 1 year old female cat. She used to pee on the floor at my apartment, so when we moved here, I expected the same. But after a few months, I was so surprised when I found she was not doing that anymore. But lately I ve been noticing a strange odor coming from a room my parents never, ever use. It s just old boxes and paperwork in there. I found MONTHS worth of poop and pee. Obviously I explained how sorry I was to my parents, and they are very understanding about it, but I want to take care of this the right way. I cleaned for hours until the room was empty (moved all the unsoiled boxes to the attic, threw out the soiled ones) and then I scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed the floor. The hardwood has dark stains on it though, and I m not sure it ll ever come up. I just want to get the smell out of the house. My mom had lung cancer and had a lung removed, and lately has been getting very sick and I think the cat odor might have something to do with it. I just feel so bad and ashamed. I love my cat, but I need to 1. Address why she is peeing outside the box, and 2. Clean up the smell in my parents house. Any tips? And my cat is not sick. I took her to the vet when she was peeing on the floor at my apartment. They gave her behavioral meds but obviously they aren t working. I will be taking her back to the vet in a few days to see what else they suggest. And she is spayed and has never been outside and has tested negative for everything (UTI, bladder crystals, etc. etc)
