Question: Kitten with pink eye help?

I just got 2 kittens named Oliver and onyx. They are about 9 weeks old. I rescued them from a very bad home in which the owner basically could care less about living environments. The day after I got them onyx started having goopy eyes and started sneezing. I took him to the vet and they gave him a shot of antibiotics for a respiratory infection. They also made me buy a powder l-lysine to help control it for both cats since Oliver could have it too. It's day 3 and he is starting to feel better but is still sneezing (all over the furniture ugh!) I'm giving him a few more day to stop sneezing. Anyways I go home with onyx and come to find out, Oliver's eye was starting to swell and turn pink. Great! I have been trying rinses and warm cotton balls. He is eating and Deff playing normally. I really don't want to have to take home to the vet if I can help it. It was $160 for onyx to go! I don't want to have to spend that agin! Any home remedies anyone has proven successful? If he gets really bad I will take him to the vet :l
