My parents have a year and a half old golden retriever and an eight year old Chihuahua. In November, my parents got another dog-she was 8 months when they got her. The chihuahua is not dog friendly and jumped on the new dog a few times until the Retriever started to protect the new dog. Now, the chihuahua doesn't even mess with the new dog. Well, I just got a new dog (I don't live with my parents) and I brought my puppy over to meet my parents and to socialize him. Problem: the Retriever will growl anytime the puppy plays with my parents new dog. All my parents dogs are girls and my dog is a boy. What could be the reason the golden retriever acts that way and is there a way we can break it?
