My bearded dragon is now about 10.5 years old and has been having some eye problems these past few months. I've noticed a handful of potential problems. - He misses frequently when he eats crickets and even superworms. He aims in the right direction but stops just short, so his tongue doesn't reach them. It's nearly impossible for him to catch crickets now. - Occasionally I notice his eyes bulging out. It's not as bad as most of the pictures I've seen online and it also comes and goes; the first few times I saw it I thought I was imagining it but there are days when they do bulge out quite a bit. - Recently he's been keeping his eyes closed much of the time, though he still opens his eyes when something makes a sound. I'm not sure if his eyes are uncomfortable but he doesn't show signs of being in extreme pain. I poked around and it looks as if common causes of this could be an infection, lack of vitamin A, and using a UV bulb for too long. These would make sense, since I really do need to change my UV bulb, and it's sometimes difficult to get him to eat his vegetables, especially in the winter when he's overall more sluggish. Are there any other possible causes for this, or is it just natural for beardies to lose their eyesight as they age?
