I am currently in medical school and about to start my 3rd year of clinical rotations. I am not sure what the hours are like, but I have a dog. Giving him up is never going to be an option. This question is for those who are currently in 3rd or 4th year of medical school with a dog. How do you take care of a dog alone while doing long hours? Do you hire dog walkers to come by daily? I know there will be some rotations where I may even have a 24 hour shift and at the same time I refuse to leave my dog home alone for such long hours. Do you know other options or can you tell me what the schedule is like for you? I was also thinking of getting an apartment right next to the hospital so that I can maybe walk him during my lunch break.
