My fiance adopted us a mini pitt/heeler mix on Easter Sunday. His best friends son was giving them away. When he brought her home i could tell she was extremely emaciated. You could see her ribs and her hip bones sticking out, and she was terrified. After having her for only 3 days, her ribs and hip bones are not sticking out quite as much, she's starting to come out of her shell a bit. But since we got her she will not leave my side, except to play with our 4 year old, or to potty on the floor in the house. I've been scheduling her feedings, taking her outside every half hour after eating. If she doesn't go after 10 mins, we go back inside for another half hour and repeat. But most of the time, after coming back inside, ill turn my back on her and she'll go. She's never gone on the floor while i was watching. So starting yesterday i've kept her on a leash all day. Never letting her get more then a few feet from me. So far, ive only gotten her to potty outside once...When she did i gave her a special treat and praised her. BUT after waiting a another 5 mins to see if she wanted to go #2, we go back inside, and as i turn away from her to close the door, she goes #2 on the floor. I understand that she's only 3 months old and that it will be a while before she stops having accidents in the house. I'm just wanting some tips to help.
