Dad surprised me with pet tarantula?

so my dad went to his company's white elephant party and apparently some guy opened a pet tarantula with cage and food but the guy did NOT want it so my dad thought it would be funny to get it and take it home to me to scare the poops out of me. so he came home and was like "hey I got you a little furry pet at the party" and I thought "omg maybe a hamster or guinea pig yay" but here he comes with a creepy crawly tarantula in a foot long and foot tall cage meant for turtles with a bag of crickets. I freaked out and wanted him to get rid of it immediately but he said that my sister said it would be good to study for homeschooling since I'm homeschooled and we are studying animals bodies so I finally agreed but as I thought more about it I realized I have no idea to take care of it. I don't know what breed it is he just is black and maybe the size of my palm if his legs went out and he isn't moving much. I don't know what gender I mean how the heck am I suppose to find out? What do I feed him? should I get him a bigger cage? Any fun facts for things they like? Will they bite? Please help! all the facts you know please! thanks. god bless <3
