We got our new Great Pyr/Husky mix on Wednesday, December 18, and he is about 5 and a half weeks (we got him really early because apparently his Mother was becoming aggressive with the pups) and it was very unexpected as we were supposed to go on a family trip that night. Of course, no one was excited with me staying behind and taking care of the new puppy so we decided we could take him with us to our trip to San Jose. During our trip we had to occasionally put him on the ground so he could relieve himself and I was really worried he would catch Parvo or some other sickness while outside. We've had him for 3 days, got him checked at the vet and got him dewormed. He eats 4 times a day and he drinks water regularly. But, I am concerned about his activity levels. He is always sleeping if he isn't eating or going to the bathroom and when it's time to play, he is has a very slow reaction time and doesn't always seem to know what's going on. When he catches on, he is full of energy but when he looks another way or loses track of you, he wanders around confused. I'm concerned that his lethargic behavior is a sign of Parvo or another type of sickness. Could it be normal puppy behavior or are those signs of sickness? Sorry if I sound paranoid out of my mind, I am very concerned because I once had a dog die from Parvo and it really ruined me.
