How to help Tame an Attention Whore Poodle/Maltese Mix?

Hello, Me and my family are constantly complaining about how one of our dogs (male) tramples over our other dog (female), when someone tries to pet her. Here is an example of the scenario- we would pet the big dog (Male Maltese/poodlemix) for a while, even throwing a few of his toys around to allow him to go chase it. After we play with him we obviously want to go play with the tiny dog (female Maltese/weinerdogmix). We would wait a while and when we call "cocoa (girl) THE BIG DOG COMES RUNNING AS IF IT WAS HIS NAME, COMPLETELY TRAMPLING HER, BACK AND FORTH and even go so far as to stick his face directly in your face scratch at your arm without disregard for breaking your skin... no matter the situation he tries to hog all of the attention, when he gets just as much IF NOT MORE than the little dog! He has TONS of toys and a bed to lay on. Before people try to say "oh its normal, he is just the dominate dog and that will happen" well Uh i asked for tips on how to tame him, not asking wtf is wrong with him. He is only a few month over 2, i know that is pretty old but i am sure there must be something i can do. Even when guests come over and they want to pet the little dog, his camel legs come running back and pushes her around and tries to force people to pet him. He even goes so far as to imitate a cat and rub his body up against your legs, after we already gave him ample amounts of attention! We have had enough. Please, any comments from true, NOT self proclaimed " i own, like, 5 dogs and think i know everything", dog experts with advice would be much appreciated. And our little Cocoa would be oh so grateful too.
