I'm going home for Christmas, to my mom's house, which is several hours away. I'm planning on staying for 2 nights (leaving for home early the final morning). I moved to a loft apartment with my cat a couple weeks ago. Before living here, I've always had a roommate who would agree to watch my cat when I was gone, but now I'm living alone, I don't know or trust anyone around here who would check up on my cat, and don't know what to do. She doesn't like being in her cage or the car, and she JUST got used to this place... I don't want to uproot her again suddenly. She lived in my mom's house a few years ago, but I don't think she'd be used to it now, and she'd be very stressed out in the car for several hours, anyway. What should I do with my cat? Is it okay to leave her at home with several bowls of water and food and boxes of litter, with the blinds open a bit and the television on? Or should I stick her in her cage and haul her with me for several hours to my mom's, and then several hours back a couple days later? Which is the best option for an easily lonely, travel-hating cat? I have to go. My mom is having a hard time this year, and I really need to be there for her. She can't come to my house either, because she has a dog, and dogs aren't allowed in my apartment.
