Hi my 12 year old mare and she was laying down two days ago. The person who owns the barn said it was weird that she was laying down in the 18mph winds. So she told me to come down there and check. I got there and she was standing up and walking around fine! So put a bareback pad on her and we rode out to go graze for 20 min. She has some grass in her pasture but its down to the bone, so I am now just starting to take her out to let her eat more because she has been on the thin side. She was very excitable when we rode back, as she always is, especially in the wind (of course not too bad though) So after about an hour, I came back to give her grain as I always do. She almost ate it all, which I thought was due to her now just starting to eat large amounts of grass. I was busy so I didn't get her out of the stall right away and I saw her eat some grain then nod her head and let some drop out. A little strange but I didn't think anything of it. So I put her back and came back this morning to give her grain again. She was absolutely fine. Then I came back again in this afternoon to ride and let graze. She was laying down again! However, it was nice weather and Im thinking she was just sun bathing since it has been so cold recently. The rest of the story is in the edit....
