A few days ago my partner and I brought home a new 1 1/2 year old male cat from the SPCA. Total sweetheart. Problem is my other cat, 1 1/2 year old female is not very welcoming. She hisses, growls and has batted at him. We thought we were making some progress last night as they were in the same room with no problems. She kind of stalks him? I guess would be the word for it. she follows him around and gets close and she'll relax and just look at him but as soon as he moves she gets mad and hisses at him. He seems to be scared of her as he runs when she hisses and growls but when she's calm, so is he. We separate them when we are at work and I've noticed she lays against the door outside the room he's in, like relaxes but as soon as she sees him she starts hissing and growing again. They weren't exactly introduced properly, and we admit that mistake. We didn't do the whole gradual thing, nor did we just chuck him at her, we just let him out of the cat crate and she was right there. Can't go back in time but we really want things to get better and for them to get along and we are looking for some advice to do so. We love our new guys and really don't want to have to give him up. We also love her though and want her to be happy. Thanks in advance for any advice :)
