Leaving cats alone for 4-5 days?

So, I'm leaving on a vacation and want to leave my 2 cats alone for 5 days max. Is that safe? Or I do have an option of putting them into an animal clinic, largest in the state, same clinic where I take both of my cats for check ups. Please do not tell me: "Hire a sitter or get a friend." This is not possible. 1. I do not have any friends who can come over (go figure). 2. I do not plan to hire a sitter because frankly I don't trust a stranger coming into my house. 3. I do not plan to put them into a pet hotel, because frankly I don't know how they are treated in there and they can't tell you that either. You never know, guy on duty at night on New Year's Eve gets wasted or angry, goes and kicks a cat. 4. My usual vet clinic is an option as they offer cat boarding. But $30/day each is pricey. HOWEVER, 1. I plan on getting them 2 very large water containers (water feeder?) for them. One is a basic container and one is a fountain. Each holds more than 150oz of water. There is no way they will be able to knock it over. I will also fill 4 different bowls with water and position them tactically throughout the apartment. 2. I plan on getting them 2 very large food feeders. Both are basic, with no timer BS that can break. Each holds more than 5 pounds of food. 3. I am planning on leaving 2 litter boxes (maybe 3 if I can find one cheap). 4. Apartment will be secured and heated. 5. There is no concierge in the building. So fire away your suggestions, preferably from people who did this before. I left my cat for 3 days one, he was fine.
