Question: If I raised a steer for FFA... could I handle a foal?

Silly question, but I'm honestly curious. I got my first horse, a mare, as a green-broke four year old. I now know that could have been a bad idea, but I got lucky and my horse has an easy personality. With my training she went from not knowing much, being spooky, and traveling with her head in the sky, to being a horse I can ride solo out on the trail, relaxed, and can trust. I ride her in endurance and she's actually doing very good. In the future I would love to breed her with a successful endurance stallion. When I was a little younger (around 16) I raised a steer for FFA. He started off about 500lbs, didn't know how to lead, was scared of everything, tried to jump a fence, and I taught him to lead fine and not be bothered by much. I then successfully showed him at a livestock show. I know cattle and horses are two different animals but... with my experience, do you think I could handle and train a foal? I definitely don't have the knowledge to train a horse for ring competitions, but for trail I think I might be ok... Thoughts?
