Is anyone a vet who has dealt with this condition before? Or is there someone who's dog was diagnosed? What happened? What diagnostic testing was done? Treatment? Costs? Survival rate? My doberman who is about to turn 2 yrs old was diagnosed. His vet referred us to a specialist, but the specialist wants us to spend 1700-2100 at his next apt just on testing. We are really nervous that they still may not have an answer and need additional testing or are nervous that surgery will cost more than we can afford, we have 2000 to use on him but after testing we are back to nothing. Since heart condition can be a cause of chylothorax and he is a Doberman should we just have an ultrasound of the heart done first? I've reached out to organizations that help in cases like these but no one wants to help. So far we have changed his diet to low fat and have added rutin, hoping he is one of the cases that can be treated with diet change. We also spent $560 on fluid drainage, done two times, xrays, blood work and heartworm testing. All testing came back normal. I'm really at a lost here.
