Price is no object for the first stage (we will be building the barn ourselves so it will be considerably cheaper than paying someone or buying it pre-built. I am thinking of a 3-4 stall barn, with a small washroom (toilet and sink), tack room, and a feed room. Is there anything else I'm missing? The feed room will hold all of the hay as well as grain - no loft- so how big should it be, in consideration of that? Should I have a door to the outside as well as the inside aisle from the feed room? I'm planning on having stairs up to an apartment above the barn. I'd like (if possible) to have the bottom of the stairs facing my horse's stall (this is merely a wish and really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things). How would you lay out the upstairs apartment to maximize space? A washer and dryer will be in the apartment, but which room? Where would you recommend putting electrical outlets? How many? How many cross ties in the aisle? I have 1 horse for now but may have 1 or 2 friends' horses coming to stay with mine. I'm sorry there are so many questions. Please just answer as if this was your barn. If you have anything else to add, PLEASE do so. The longer the answer, the better ;) thank you! What are the usual sizes for stalls? How wide should the aisle be? OH!!! I would like an indoor wash-stall as well! Could you describe how you'd personally lay the barn out?
