I have a five month old puppy who is JUST starting to eat dry food that's not mixed with wet food or chicken. Even then he would eat around the dry food. Before he would only eat dry food if he was so hungry he could not take it any more. He still does that a little bit. As you can probably tell, he is a picky eater. He weighs about twelve pounds and I am not sure what mix he is, but I think he is a cockapoo. He eats three times a day, once at 9:30 AM, 3:30 PM, and 8:30 PM. They are all half cup servings of Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Puppy Formula With Smoked Salmon. He often skips the first meal, takes nibbles at the second one and finishes the last one. I want him to eat what he is given when he is given it so that he can get the proper amount of vitamins, minerals, etc.. I have heard of the method where you put out their food and after fifteen minutes take it away, regardless of how much or how little they ate so they can learn to eat their food when their given it. Does this work? Is it bad for the puppy? If this is not a good idea, then I need to know one that is, so that he eats his food when he is given it.
