*sigh* okay...long story. I bred my hamsters about four months ago. It was a small litter (there were four babies). Once they were of age I picked the two hamsters I wanted to keep (there were 3 girls and a boy. I chose one girl and the one boy). We took the two sisters to a local pet store where they took in out little hamsters for free:) We put the boy in a separate cage and we kept the girl in with her mother. That's where the problem lies. We didn't exactly wean the female off her mother and now that she's an adult she's still trying to nurse! Because of the female trying to nurse the mother is getting angry and there has been a lot of fighting. But the fighting hasn't been deadly (that's why we haven't done anything about it). Now we have found that the mother has scabs on her back, sides, and nipples! They are hurting each other! What am I supposed to do?! I came on here because I was wondering if there was something I could do to make the daughter stop trying to nurse. If there is nothing I can do then I will just put them into separate cages...
