I really don't know if this is the best place to seek advise, but I don't know what else to do. I have a 2 1/2 year old female chocolate lab dog. I know labs take a little longer to grow out of their puppy stage and fully develop their mental capabilities, but should it take this long? My dog is so bad! She jumps on the counter and takes anything up their (food, napkins, mail, etc), she roots in the garbage can (even though it has a lid, we have to put something on top of it so she won't push the lid open), she has an obsession with the TV remotes, if you leave them on a table she takes them. To be honest, I'm surprised they still work considering the buttons missing, teeth marks, and tape used to hold it together. She is also very aggressive towards other animals. She hates all small dogs and I have to be very careful when I take her to the vet and there's small dogs around. I have cats that hang around outside and she's fine with them for the most part, unless they accidentally come into the house, then she attacks them! She definitely has territorial issues that I have tried to work on her with since I've had her. She also has terrible separation anxiety, if I am out of her sight, she begins to panic and that's when she really misbehaves; taking anything in sight (movies off the shelf, remotes, phone books, anything if it's in her reach! I tried so many training tips and nothing works! Sorry for it being so long! I play with her too, so it's not boredom. I've talked to my vet about it and she's suggested many things that I have tried and nothing works! Also, if she lays on my lap and I start petting her and I stop, she starts hitting me with her paws and she bites me. I tell her no and make her get down off the sofa, but she just goes right back to doing it. I love this dog and I don't want to get rid of her, but I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I have tried so many things I've read from countless websites and books, and dog trainers.
