Question: Is it bad to feel a bit reluctant to help my friend with his new dog?

We work the same schedule which is an graveyard shift that is about 5 hours long m-f. That's my only obligation. I plan to start school in another year when my gf moves hear and I won't feel bad because I will then have two places I'm spending multiple hours and can't take him along. When my friend asked me if he should get one, I tried to explain it's much harder than having two cats that he can't even keep the litter box clean for and doesn't know where they are half the time. He told me today that he rescued a dog, and picks him up on Tuesday. Now I want to help the dog, but I also think he should do his own research on potty training, crate training, separation anxiety, conditioning, proper training for manners to behave around people and other dogs, grooming, vet visits, dog food, etc. And dealing with dogs that have previous owners. Knowing just general behaviors of dogs, but he didn't grow up with them. Like at this moment he's asking really basic questions that he could read on a quick guide on a random blog talking about new pets. I really want to make sure the dog is in good hands, just not sure my friend has the most responsible hands.
