Question: Scab on cat's neck and hair loss?

I recently took in a stray and I noticed that she had a slight spot on the back of her neck that had less hair then the rest of it. It wasn't a bald spot, the fur just seemed shorter than the rest of her fur. I felt around and there was a scab, but in the process of healing. There were no other scabs on her body, just that one spot. I took her a clinic to be fixed and they didn't say anything about it but they also told me they were not a vet office, they just do spay/neuters. She doesn't seem to be scratching and it look like the hair could be growing back.. should I still be worried? They did not find any fleas on her. Someone suggested it could be ringworm but it's not patchy or spreading, its just one scab. To me it looks more like my dog's scab when she had a tick on her and when it scabbed over after it was removed Could it be the same thing since the cat lived outdoors?
