Question: Help!!! How do I slow my horse down into jumps?

Hi I have a horse who can get VERY overexcited jumping. He is mainly a xc horse or hunter but he has done showjumping in the past and I really want to do It as I want to start BE. the only problem is he gets way way to overexcited jumping and rushes into the jumps way to much causing him to crash through them or be careless picking up his feet. He doesn't seem to know how to slow down and jump calmly!🙈he is already in a Pelham and has a saddle that fits etc so there's nothing wrong with his back or anything he just gets way to overexcited and them bombs off after jumps? HELP ME!! How can I slow him down? Is there any exercises/tips to do this as I really want to showjump him and don't want to have to sell him so I can get a horse that showjumps. Thankyou!
