How can I make my cat nicer?

My cat is constantly hostile towards my dog. I got the cat about a year and a half ago and I've had my dog for almost 6 years. When we first got the cat we kept her and the dog away from each other so she could get used to the environment and we could control their contact with each other. Eventually we let them be around each other. At first my dog tried to go after her (he is a terrier after all) but he got used to her being around and left her alone after a month or so. My cat would always stay away from him (can't blame her right). Anyway for the past 6 months or so she is being weirdly hostile towards him. >If he's walking around she'll run after him and tries to scratch him. >She by the door when we go out for walks and tries to scratch him. >When he walks by she'll hiss. >There will be times when he's just laying down and she tries to mess with him. He used to ignore her but it's getting to the point where she'll try to mess with him and he goes after her because he's annoyed. I've had to get in between more than a few fights. I bought a water bottle and I'll squirt her when she's starting something. But after I started doing that I noticed that she seemed more hostile towards me as well. (constantly watching me, tail switching, ears back, etc) I read about it online and apparently if you try to punish cats it causes them to hate you more. I've tried leaving her alone but then she tries to start fights with the dog and I'm afraid that one day she'll start a fight that she won't be able to win. She used to be sweet and would even lay next to my dog and not be affected by him. I don't know why she's changed and I just want things in my home to be back to normal. If anyone has any advice on how I can get rid of some of the tension in my home I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks
