I have a high energy dog. He gets very unmanagable when he sees another dog or animal. I don't think it is aggression, he just gets very excited and whimpers and will try to get off his leash. He is a very good escape artist and can get out of collars,harnesses, and nose leashes. He will even escape when i routinely take him potty. I can't walk him in my neighborhood because so many dogs are there and once he gets off his leash, he is GONE. He will run away and not come back. It takes hours until he will go to another random person and they can grab him or we're up all night wandering the streets for him. He has always been like this, even with previous owners. (he is 5) My girlfriend and I are buying a house in a year and will have a large back yard with a high fence so he can't escape and can run around all he likes. I just feel so guilty he has to wait that long but I know in the end it will save much more trouble.... Also we do take him to the woods so he can freely run around with no roads/animals/or people for him to disturb or get killed. And he will follow us around moderately so its safe. But that is a 45 min drive both ways and I can't afford to take that trip every few days.
