Question: I would like to dig a pretty small pond (2 ft wide, 1 ft deep, and 2 ft long) and put three turtles in it.?

Do I have to have a pond filter or are three thirty gallon filters okay? I have a way to cover the wires and they are close to the house so we are okay with that. Would the filters serve the purpose that I have? I have plenty of things for the turtles to float on. Help!
