My male and female cockatiels have mated occasionally but otherwise are not all that friendly to each other. Now that the female has laid her first egg she is attacking the male, obviously to keep him away from the egg. It's a pretty big cage but I see him hiding in the corner and wonder if she's even letting him get to the food and water. I would really rather not buy another cage, is there anything I can do to make them more harmonious? I should note that she laid the egg outside of the nesting box. When I put it inside she seemed to not be able to find it and that was when I first saw her attack him. I have since moved it back to the site where she laid it.
