Are my hamsters fighting or playing?

I have two female dwarf hamsters and it seems like they are always fighting. The smaller one runs up behind or infont the bigger one to either grab her food or nip at her butt it seems. The bigger one in defense either gets up and starts boxing her or falls down to her back and she squeals extremely loud and tries to run away and the smaller one chases after her. They still sleep together but the bigger one always seems jumpy when the smaller ones around. Ive been thinking of seperating them because the bigger one has started to bite me more often and i think they need some space but im not sure if it would just make it worse.
