Is it possible to put a smaller tank inside a larger one to make a pool for a water dragon?

I have a tank that is about fifty gallons. Presently my gerbil lives in it. I've considered using it for more gerbils in the future, but I'm wondering if perhaps one day I could make it into a good habitat for a Chinese water dragon. (This wouldn't be for a while, but I've recently become very interested in the animal and I think it would be a cool pet to care for one day in the future) From what I've found online, it seems they enjoy water quite a bit so I was wondering if it would be possible to fit a smaller tank into my fifty gallon one to serve as a pool for such a creature. But I'm not sure how it would get into it; would a water dragon be happy with a thick floor of bedding to raise it high enough to get into the pool or would a branch of some sort/ a reptile habitat decoration that hangs over/ goes into the smaller tank work? Or, would I just need a new habitat altogether? If one were to have a pool in this fashion, would there be any sort of little fish that would be able to live in it and not be bothered by the water dragon (or be edible for the lizard)? Perhaps that's just getting too big as far as ideas go though, haha.
