Is it selfish to keep my cat indoors?

Good evening cat parents. I have kept my 3 yr old cat indoors since the day i brought her in to my home. She is very well taken care of. She has food and water available at all times, she has her own toys- some of which mysteriously disappeared forever, (sometimes a little piece of string is all she needs and she'll go crazy), she gets lots of attention, she's very active, and I allow her to sleep on my bed. I only let her out so she can do her business BUT I go outside with her and once she is done I pick her up and bring her back in. My mom says I should let her be outside so she can run freely and explore but I don't really trust leaving her outdoors. The reason why I keep her indoors is because I know cats are prone to fleas when they outdoors. I don't want her to get hit by a car, run away, get killed by a dog, or worst of all lay in the hands of an abuser. For the most part she looks very happy. She greets me when I come home from work and loves to cuddle. Sometimes when she sits by the window I see her looking at the birds, and I start feeling sorry for her because I assume she probably wishes to be outside to catch birds and all the other things a cat does. Is it selfish to keep her strictly indoors with the exception of pooping/peeing outside (under MY supervision)?
