My year old Chihauhau had an unexpected pregnancy and gave birth to two healthy babies three days ago (vet checked on second day). She has been an excellent mum - rarely leaving them , only to use the toilet and have some food. Although last night and today she seems to want to not be with them that much. She'll come and sit on me and hear them cry then she'll Start crying and go back over. Then she'll leave again , she's still feeding them well and licking them a lot I just wonder why this is happening? I'm weighing the puppies every day and there weight is brilliantly improving (according to vets) and their umbilical cords have already dropped off and look healthy . It just seems like strange behaviour and can't find any answers for it? If anybody could give me some useful advice it would be very much appreciated. Thank you!
