My cat still has diarrhea even after 2 tablespoons of pumpkin?

My cat who is 5 months old has been having diarrhea for a couple of days, it's a really smelly and a thick yellow consistency. I picked up some pure pumpkin puree, reading it helps diarrhea in cats but after 2 tablespoons of it he's still having diarrhea. Should I take him into the vet or try another couple tablespoons? One website said that it can take 24-48 to really see results but I'm not sure how many tablespoons I should be giving him until then. Thanks for any answers! xoxo -Leah
