Cat itching itself BADLY! Help?

***Before you answer, please know this is a stray cat that my family feeds, so it would be difficult to take it to the vet, especially since it is hesitant for anyone to touch it because of it's condition. I understand that this would be in its best interest to get it there but it is very hard to try to put him into a crate.*** Any-who, we have about an 8 month old cat (stray) who went missing (outdoor cat as it is somewhat feral) for a few days and I expected the worst. Then, earlier this evening I spotted it on the hood of our car and was excited, until I saw that about its whole neck is raw. It isn't bleeding, it is just raw-ish and it is completely bald- which makes me rule out another animal attacking him because otherwise I think it would be patchy. He seems fine, he is always skittish, but he is a little more skittish when you first approach him because he is hurting. He is itchy, which makes me think flea-allergy, but it is cold out and from my research this would be a summer-time problem- and he has never had a problem with this, as he has lived through all of the very hot and humid months, which is when a flea allergy would have been first noticed. No foods have been changed. We have other strays (and yes they are all fixed so please do not preach to me about that) and if it were mange I would imagine that they would all have it. Since no other cats are affected it makes me believe it is an allergy but I don't know what would cause this sudden reaction, if that is what this is. I am really worried just because I know he has got to be miserable and I feel so bad. I put Revolution on him as soon as I could get him to sit still with treats and he did not mind it whatsoever. I plan on treating the yard tomorrow for fleas, both the front and back, and am going to continue to try to rid of that problem. I know it is important to treat the environment as well as the cat, and this is just precautionary and am trying to do everything I can to help him. He has other injuries I guess from possibly this as well- a scab on his head, one right above his shoulder blades, and another on the side of his head. I haven't seen him for a while so this is all brand new to me that he has this problem. The cats had a ringworm problem in the past (his poor mom was a wreck when we first found her- she was definitely dropped off and abandoned) and was wondering if maybe this was a worsened continuation of that? I do not know if ringworm could cause this bad of a reaction, but I've read that that could cause hair loss and such. My biggest point is that he is the only one like this- his brother is fine as well as his mom, and we have another family of 3 cats who are fine. What are your tips and suggestions on what this could be? I am talking to a friend I know tomorrow when it is a decent hour because she's an ex-vet, but I was just curious to see if any night owls could help me out as this is really stressful and a worrisome situation. I don't like to see any cat hurt, especially one that I claim as my own :/ Thank you so much, especially since this means you took the time to read all of this. Also, he itches at his bald, raw neck and it just makes me cringe. Forgot to explain on the point of him being itchy. He doesn't cry about it- he must be a real trooper for acting like everything is fine. He still rolls onto his back and lets you pet his stomach, he SEEMS fine when I know he isn't. Personality is the same. Just itchier than normal and I'm scared that he will make it worse, which is why I put Revolution on him right away (He was gone for about 5 days so I did not know this was an issue, I already feel bad enough about it so please do not be rude).
