So i accidentally put my new wool jacket on a sofa that apparently had a very strong cat pee smell which unfortunately clung onto the fabric. However, the enzyme cat urine cleaners seem too expensive to me. I tried the good ol vinegar/water/baking soda/hydrogen peroxide/dish soap mixture i found on google and it temporarily eliminated the smell. However, i just recently learned that the baking soda can "stain" the fabric further AND that the cat pee smell will eventually come back and i'm like oh great -_________- Can I get rid of the potential baking soda stains and will the smell set in even more? I will go buy the expensive enzyme cleaners i've been trying to avoid if it means it will work to get rid of the smell forever, but I heard that its difficult once the stain sets. Note: I do not think the wool got wet with pee, just somehow absorbed the smell I really want to save this jacket, it is a birthday present :,( please help me and i will radiate good vibes that will eventually reach you and give you good luck!!!
