Okay so here's what's going on. There are several stray cats that live around my apartment and one them is very loving and sweet towards us, and is also pregnant. Her name is Patchy. I don't know how old she is but she seems young, and is a small cat in general (maybe around the size of a 2 year old). I don't even know how many weeks into her pregnancy she is, but her belly is definitely poking out. I've never helped an animal give birth before, and my mom has only ever helped dogs do it so I've been doing research and know quite a bit from a text book point. But I would like more personal advice, from someone who's actually done this before. I'm worried about how the pregnancy might go because she's a stray and we'll be bringing her into a strange home (though she's been inside before and seemed comfortable enough). Plus, we already have a cat who doesn't really get along with her so her stress levels might spike once we bring her in but it's the safest option for her and her kittens with the landlady trying to capture all the cats and take them to a pound. Any advice on how to keep her relaxed and comfortable in a strange new home is greatly needed, as well what kind of food to give her and any brands you could recommend. There are also some things I would like to clear up before I get to it: If any of the kittens are stillborn (which I'm praying they'll all be perfectly healthy) where exactly am I supposed to put them? Is there anywhere I can buy kitten milk in case Patchy doesn't let them nurse? Are there specific bottles I'm supposed to use in that case? How can I tell what stage of pregnancy Patchy is in? Should I wait until after she's given birth before taking her to the vet to get shots? Where can I easily get all the supplies? Basically, any and all information you can give me about this subject is welcome. I want to be well prepared for this to make sure all kittens are safely delivered, as well as Patchy surviving the process.
