Punish a cat physically should be effective?

I do not get why so many pet specialists are frown upon the physical punishment towards cat, but in my opinion, physical punishment should be effective if its perfectly correctly and absolutely necessary. The following are my points. -Have you ever seen a spoiled child? Simply ignoring the cat's negative behavior may not always be good. For example, if you say the right solution to prevent ur cat from scratching is to buy him a scratch post, but the punishment is still needed as they might take the scratch post as an alternative rather than the only target. -Having understood cat's brain is structured different from human, some may argue that cat do not understand what you are punishing them for, but corresponding reflex is applicable to all animals, same as a cat run towards you as soon as they hear the sound of opening a can food. -If they are not as developed to appreciate displine, how can they possibly appreciate the guilt of his behaviour against a kind owner?
