My cat was diagnosed with struvite crystals in July 2013 and has since had six re-occurrences. He's on the special diet, added water to his wet food, and I bought him a fountain, AND he's on Prozac. With all this, he was still have issues. And then my sister stopped by one day and said my water smelled really chlorinated (I'd never noticed before, as I don't drink the tap water except to boil it for tea). I switched my cat to distilled water, and this month he hasn't had any inflammation or crystals, which is just amazing. I've spent 2500 in just over 7 months for treatment for my cat...and something as tiny as switching his water seems to be helping him so much. He's still on the special diet and meds, but what do you think? Can I wean him off the meds? The vet gave me the go-ahead to try it, but I'm worried that his crystals will come back...
