Okay, so I have this problem that I been having for MONTHS. Arguing back and forth with my mom and this situation. So, my family have this Yorkie/Poodle mix & he's 7 months old. I've been urging my mom to let me potty train him. (It's kinda my dog, I care for him) My previous puppy I had that pasted had a puppy pen and he was to young to go outside. I can take my present dog out, it's just the snow and he's used to walking around the backyard. (I took him out near the middle of school year and he was great at it.) Since I got the sibling (2nd dog) my mom got another pen because he can jump at the first one. My mom keeps buying pads, even when he was going outside before. And I keep telling her and she keeps yelling at me, telling me to shut the h*** up and how she will give up the dog etc etc. And once the second dog was pooping around the house in a week. And I have a friend who has a dog and she told me to potty train him. I printed out info etc, kept showing it to my mom. She doesn't get rid of the pen and pads. Like just today the dog figured out how to get out the pen and now she looked for locks just to keep him contain in there and I said why don't you use the crate. And she ALWAYS SAY NO. Her reasons are to not have him cramped, let him play around and eat. She says he's still I puppy and I agree but he soon is going to be an adult and if I still have to pick up poop in my house I'm going to loose it. ALL THE TIME SHE CALLS ME and say (my name) hurry up and clean it up no one wants to see that when they're eating. And I'm like that why you take him outside. And she says (my name) if you say that one more time I'll slap the **** out of you. And I nag her about it. Idk what to do. I remeber once when he was pooping nonstop on a week she got mad and frustrated and said how she was thinking about giving the dog up. And I NEVER WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. My mom also is waiting for another dog and ask ME to check constantly on these rescues for Yorkies. (Our first puppy died from a PetSmart grooming incident and so they owe us a dog.) And even my friend and her mom said to crate him.( They use their dog crate for punishment and spank their dog and rub his nose in his poop but not anymore because he housetrain, I disagree with their methods.) I don't know what to do? I also regret even showing my mom this video of using a crate and ex-pen. I was new at learning facts and info about getting a dog. What should I do ? Also, my mom's coworker has older small dogs and she uses the crate for punishment and my mom tells me how her coworker doesn't crate her dogs that dogs should know to stay in a corner or something like that and how her dogs don't be in crate when left alone. I soon told her the dog has to be house trained in order to be out of the crate. I also had a goal months ago that I try and get him potty trained at 6-7 months old. Please someone help me and this stressful problem.
