Hi, I have done a lot of research already but still would like as much information as possible so if anyone could help me I would be really thankful. We have just purchased a beautiful labradoodle male pup who will be 8 weeks old when I collect him in 2 weeks time, he will not have had his jabs and will be having them the first week I bring him home. We currently have a very lovable, energetic, affectionate 9 year crossbreed that we got as an 18 month old pup from a rescue centre she has fitted into our family perfectly and very much loved. However, she is very territorial of her home (barks when doorbell rings and new people come into the house) and doesn't get on greatly with new dogs (my neighbours 5 year old border collie male shes fine with) My resident dog at the minute is still a pup at heart and never gets bored of playtime I am very aware of what to expect when we first introduce the two dogs and that it will take a while for them to get accustomed to one another and short meetings are best and to give my resident dog space and keep her usual routine. However, in my research I've found that its best for the dogs to meet in 'neutral' ground like a park but I CANT DO THAT AS THE PUPPY WILL NOT HAVE HAD HIS JABS. Other people have indicated it might be worth to bring my resident dog in the car with me to pick up my new pup, however my dog isn't the best in cars and its quite a long journey (1hr half) for her to be sat in the car. Any ideas on the best way to first introduce them is much needed!!! I have already purchased a large cage for a confined area the pup can rest in. Any help, advice or information would be brilliant!!! Also my main worry is how and where should I first introduce the dogs if a park or somewhere public is out of the option this is the question that I need answers too please!!
