About a year ago i purchased an Australian cattle dog(red heeler puppy) sadly we noticed she wasn't responding to her name or commands so we took her to the vet and she is deaf. It's been very hard to train a deaf dog. She has a great personality but is very disobedient. I've read plenty of books on training deaf dogs but nothing seems to be working. I've tried and continue to try to use hand signals with a lot of reputation. For example if she does something "bad" I use my pointer finger and wave it back and forth meaning 'NO' but unfortunately she just barks at me EVERYTIME. It gets extremely frustrating! She barks uncontrollably all the time. I don't believe in punishing an animal by hitting them but I have tried a muzzle for her barking and it doesn't seem to work at all. One last thing she is still doing her potty business in the house. She is crate trained and goes out on a regular basis with exercise and continues to do her pees and poos in my house. Please help!
